Url Re-write
As more and more people want to promote their websites and get closer to the top page on the search engines then rewriting the way the website url's look has become more popular.
Url rewrite definitions - A technique to transform a dynamic URL in order to make it appear static and search engine friendly.
There are many ways of rewriting url's but we use one which we can fully alter and understand.
Examples
The code below takes the link contact.htm and points it to a contact.aspx page.
RewriteRule ^Contact\.htm$ Contact.aspx [NC,R=301,L]
The next example below makes the default page default.htm instead of default.aspx.
RewriteRule ^$ default.htm [R=301,L]
